5 signs your business is ready to automate

Automation isn't just for big companies. Here are five everyday signs that a bit of custom software could win back hours of your week.

  • Automation
  • Custom software

"Automation" sounds like something only big corporations need. It isn't. Some of the highest-impact software I build is small — a quiet bit of code that takes a painful, repetitive job off someone's plate, every day, forever.

Here are five signs your business is ready for it.

1. You're copying data between systems by hand

If someone on your team regularly exports from one app and types it into another, that's a job a computer should be doing. It's slow, it's boring, and every manual step is a chance for a costly mistake.

2. The same questions hit your inbox over and over

Booking requests, quote enquiries, status updates — if you're answering the same thing on repeat, a simple tool or form can handle most of it for you, and do it instantly.

3. Your spreadsheet has become a monster

Spreadsheets are brilliant, right up until they're not. When yours has more tabs than you can count, breaks when the wrong person touches it, or only one person truly understands it, it's outgrown the job.

4. You can't see what's going on without digging

If answering "how are we tracking this month?" means an afternoon of pulling numbers together, a simple dashboard can give you that answer in a glance, updated in real time.

5. Growth means hiring just to keep up with admin

If every new customer adds more manual work, your admin grows as fast as your revenue. Automation breaks that link, so you can take on more without drowning in busywork.

Where to start

You don't need to automate everything at once. The best results usually come from picking the one task that wastes the most time and starting there.

If a couple of those signs sounded familiar, let's have a chat. Tell me where your week disappears to, and I'll show you what's possible.
